  • Carbonite is a simple, automatic online backup service.
  • Worked on Carbonite.com home page information architecture and user experience.
  • Redesigned purchasing and renewing subscriptions process.
    • Improved usability by creating a clear path to completion.

  • ChoiceStream generates dynamic, personalized display ads and product recommendations for retailers.
  • Primary responsibilities are user experience design and development for internal and customer facing advertising products.
  • Designed and developed self service ad manager interface using jQuery and integrating with Ruby on Rails backend.
  • Designed experiment interface that allows implementation consultants to easily configure multivariate experiments for recommendation algorithms and advertisements.

Senior User Interaction Designer (October 2008 โ€“ April 2009) Mzinga Burlington, MA

  • Mzinga provides software that allows client companies to build and manage their online communities.
  • Primary responsibilities include improving usability in existing service offerings and designing the user interaction for a productized community package.
  • Redesigned forums.
    • Improved usability by displaying only relevant actions, encouraging users to add more content by removing barriers to posting, and fixing navigation so that users no longer feel “lost.”
    • Created novel and intuitive pagination system for tracking unread pages within a thread.
    • Improved visual design.
  • Designed admin interface for productized package.
    • Removed/hid options that did not impact end user experience, streamlined the rest (from 250 to about 25), made the layout intuitive, and set sensible defaults whenever possible.
  • Designed Social Intelligence Analytics.
    • Designed collection of reports and interfaces that make millions of numbers accessible to non-statisticians. Packaged community statistics into a simple visual shape that conveys the personality/DNA of a community at a glance.
